Stapled beige stiff paper wraps. No printing information. 27 pages. Black and white illustrations, maps and a partial reproduction of a soldier's personal correspondence and of an official document. Bibliography. ~~ The first shots of the Civil War, fired at Fort Barrancas in Pensacola, Florida, in January 1861, forced a small group of Union soldiers to man and defend Ft. Pickens. With less than eighty men it was held until it was relieved in April 1861. By May 1862 the Confederate forces in Pensacola were removed, and thanks to the tenacity of these Union soldiers, Pensacola had been saved for the Union. An interesting piece of regional historical research. ~~ Signed by the author on the title page.
